Rainy Riverlands Red Barn Wedding | Emily & Aaron

Emily and Aaron’s rainy Riverlands Red Barn wedding in Pemberton, was a wet one. It was also one of my favourites of the whole year. It was September, and though that month is generally lovely, this past September was cold and wet for the most part. All you can do when it rains, is roll with the punches, and that we did.

They did their first look in the paddock, in the rain. I honestly have never seen such a genuine and beautiful reaction from a couple. They broke into happy tears, shared the most special embrace, and then read each other personal vows that had me tearing up behind my camera. What these two have is special. The kind of love that is straight out of a love story. A deep connection that was so beautiful to witness and capture.

We did the majority of their photos prior to the guests arriving, and then hid Emily in the back until the ceremony. Robyn of Blue Violet Events was going with Plan B, of course. It was wet! The ceremony site had been set up inside, but 10 minutes prior to it starting, the rain let up and the sky started to open up. Knowing Emily & Aaron wanted an outdoor ceremony, I took the chance of suggesting us moving it into the paddock. It was risky, but Robyn was thankfully on board, and the groomsmen started moving all the chairs and her handmade Macrame alter out to the field. A joint effort by all, we made their outdoor ceremony possible at the last minute.

Their ceremony was incredible of course. Even though they’d already seen each other plenty before hand, it didn’t stop Aaron from the most beautiful reaction of his bride walking down the aisle.

After the ceremony ended, each guest picked up their chair and moved it back inside to help with the setup. Whistler Wood Fired Pizza Co. served some delicious pizzas for dinner, followed by a Grilled Cheese Food Truck for late night snacks. YUM! Of course followed by some celebratory cigars, whiskey, and a wicked little dance party.

Em & Aaron, thank you so much for including me in this day. Capturing the connection between you two was one of my highlights of the season. Not only did you have the most epic style, you were two of the kindest people. So thankful to have been apart.
